Compared to the predecessor models of the Skylake generation, the clock speed is slightly increased in Kaby Lake, resulting in a performance boost of 15-25% for notebook processors. These clock speed increases at the same power consumption are made possible by improvements in the 14nm process. As new features, Kaby Lake not only has higher clock rates but also enhanced codec accelerations for H.265 and VP9 videos. Additionally, the Speed Shift technology has been improved, which ensures faster Turbo Boost responses under Windows 10.
